PHSG says admission to Year 7 is made through Plymouth City Council and is based on selection by ability through the 11-plus examination. The school adds that applicants who are Pupil Premium, members of staff families, or relying on exceptional medical or social need must complete the relevant Supplementary Information Form from the admissions policy.
Exam dates and admissions evidence
For September 2027 entry, PHSG states that 11-plus registration opens at 9am on Monday 27 April 2026 and closes at 12 noon on 31 August 2026. Mock-test registration runs from 20 April 2026 to 22 May 2026, the mock examination is on 4 July 2026, and mock results are issued on 17 July 2026. The real tests are on Saturday 12 September 2026 for English comprehension and Saturday 19 September 2026 for Maths, with results emailed on Thursday 15 October 2026. The latest date to submit the school-place application is 31 October 2026 and allocations are notified on 1 March 2027.
