Entry requirements

The Rochester Grammar School is a regularly oversubscribed girls' grammar school that admits boys in the sixth form. Its 2027/28 admissions policy states that the Local Authority administers the Medway Test on behalf of the governors and that only applications from children assessed as grammar ability through the Medway Test are considered for Year 7.

The Rochester 2027/28 policy confirms that Year 7 entry is through the Medway Test. The official Medway Council key-dates page for September 2026 entry says Medway Test registration opened at 9am on Monday 19 May 2025 and closed at 5pm on Friday 13 June 2025. Medway primary and junior school pupils sat the Medway Test on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 September 2025, children from non-Medway schools sat it on Saturday 20 or Sunday 21 September 2025, and results were issued on Wednesday 15 October 2025.
