Gloucestershire school admissions for parents

Official source

Gloucestershire publishes unusually granular admissions pages for September 2026, including reply-form deadlines, waiting-list rounds and separate grammar-school testing steps. The biggest local distinction is that only a small part of the system is appealed through the council itself; most schools handle their own appeals.

Primary September 2026 round

The live primary page said applications opened on 3 November 2025 and closed at midnight on 15 January 2026. Allocation day was 16 April 2026, the first reply or waiting-list deadline was 23 April 2026, waiting-list outcomes were due after 14 May 2026, and appeals were expected in late June and July 2026.

Secondary September 2026 round

The secondary page said online applications opened on 3 September 2025 and closed at midnight on 31 October 2025. Allocation day was 2 March 2026, and the deadline to accept, decline or request a waiting list was midnight on 16 March 2026.

Grammar schools

Gloucestershire grammar-school registration ran from noon on 19 May 2025 to noon on 27 June 2025, with the main test on 13 September 2025 and results before 31 October 2025. The grammar page listed 7 grammar schools and a late test on 31 January 2026.

Appeals and school types

Gloucestershire says only community-school appeals are handled by the council. The live secondary guidance said Archway School was the only community secondary school, so most secondary appeals go direct to the school or academy trust.

Contact and waiting-list follow-up

Gloucestershire published 01452 425407 and school.admissions@gloucestershire.gov.uk on the primary page. The secondary page also gave 6 April 2026 as the first waiting-list outcome date and 10 April 2026 as the response deadline for that round.
