How many schools are there in London?

MySchoolHub lists 3,126 open schools across London's 33 local authorities (the 32 boroughs and the City of London), including state primary and secondary schools, academies, special schools and independent schools.

Which London boroughs have grammar schools?

London's grammar schools are in Barnet, Bexley, Bromley, Enfield, Kingston upon Thames, Redbridge and Sutton. They admit by an entrance test, usually sat at the start of Year 6, so registration normally closes in the summer term of Year 5.

How do school applications work in London?

All London councils use the Pan-London coordinated admissions scheme. You apply through your home council, even for schools in another borough, and can name up to six schools. Secondary applications close on 31 October and offers arrive on 1 March; primary applications close on 15 January and offers arrive on 16 April.

What is a catchment distance?

It is the furthest distance from the school at which a place was offered on distance in a given year, taken from council allocation data. It changes every year, so look at several years rather than one. We publish real catchment distances for 24 London councils so far.
